DEPARTMENT OF RADIOLOGY/JFK MEDICAL CENTER
The radiology department at the JFK Medical Center provides quality diagnostic and treatment services in the caring, safe and efficient environment. The JFK Medical Doctors, Specialists, Nurses and as well Radiologist work together with skilled X-ray Technicians to coordinate imagine services of various studies, using state of the art equipment. The Radiology department performs and interprets more than 80 cases per day. The X-ray department runs on a 24-hour shift.
Initially, the radiology department was comprised of Analog and Fluoroscopy machines. Today the department is equipped with digital X-ray and Ultrasound machines.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT
The radiology department is the cornerstone of the hospital. It also assists doctors to diagnose and treat patients. An efficient, quality and well-run radiology department increases patient volumes to the hospital and increase patient satisfactions as a result of its ability to improve patient care.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
The Radiology Department works as a team to provide prompt and accurate medical diagnostic for medical care. The department performs and provides interpretation of studies for Emergency patients, In-patients and Out-patients.
1. The Radiology Department reviews work schedules and assign duties to workers to maintain patient flow.
2. Evaluates accuracy and quality of images and provides technical assistance to staff and trains new X-ray Technicians.
3. Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure the safety of patients and staff. It also records patients’ information and provides quarterly, monthly, and yearly reports on the department’s progress.
